Wedding Cake Trends for 2011

Spring 2011 wedding cake trends are quite different from the traditional white wedding cakes with bridal toppers and instead are replaced with bright colors, flowers and candies. According to Chef Chris of SLICE, the general trends in wedding cake colors are green, latte, orange and purple.
Decorations for wedding cakes are becoming more bold and creative. The use of patterns, flowers, lace and general attention to detail is on the rise. Buttercream has become increasingly popular in wedding cakes. Brides today are opting for wedding cakes topped with flowers or other objects that represent the themes of the wedding instead of using traditional cake toppers of the bride and groom.
Wedding cake flavors like gingerbread, lemon, coffee and nutty flavors are becoming a popular wedding cake trend, though chocolate is still a favorite for many.
